MILFORD UNITED SOCCER

U10 (ages 9-10)

Milford United Soccer Club
E-Division
U10 boys & girls program
MUSC offers two programs for this age group
Recreational & Developmental Travel Program

MUSC's Recreational program is designed to promote development of skills, teamwork, understanding of the game, and having FUN. The club will attempt to form teams balanced by age and skill to offer equality on the playing field. The Recreational player should get at least 50% playing time in a game.

Our recreational soccer program picks up where our U8 program left off. Training mirrors the U8 philosophy of train & demonstrate. The fundamentals of soccer such as offside, corner kicks, handball and all those rules, along with possession and style of play are incorporated into weekly training and weekend games. Game format is increased from 4v4 to 8v8. Small sided games provide players with more opportunities to touch the ball. More touches mean more time to demonstrate skills.

For athletes that desire a higher commitment or more intense training, MUSC offers a Developmental Travel program that works along side the recreational program. Athletes have an additional training & game per week. (additional fees apply)

Developmental Travel Team (DT)
Guidelines & Rules

Overview
MUSC sponsors U10 travel soccer teams that compete against developmental travel teams from other towns within the South Central District. Teams are open to all U10 boys and girls registered with the club. Participants take part in a higher level of commitment than the recreation player. Most DT players attend a total of three practices a week ( 1 with recreation team, one with DT team & one with DT trainer) In addition; they have the option of taking part in 2 games per week ( 1-mandatory with recreation team and 1 optional with DT)

Playing Seasons
Travel teams play both a fall and spring season. The fall season runs from early September through the middle of November; the spring season runs from the beginning of April through the middle of June.

Eligibility & Signup
In order for a player to be eligible to participate in the MUSC U10 Developmental program they must participate in the MUSC recreational program and be in good standing with the club, league and team. Pre-season sign up is preferred; however, NO U10 players will be turned away from participation at any time during the season.

Practice
As stated above, practice is in addition to recreation team practices. Players MUST attend their recreation team practices in order to be eligible to play. The developmental team will practice a max of once a week. Please note: Location and time of practice may change throughout the season if needed.

Games
The players will be divided up into groups for games. The number of groups will depend on the number of participants in the program. The team will play no more than one game per week and can schedule between 8-10 games per season, which will be divided equally among the players. These games are in addition to their recreation team games. A scrimmage is considered a game.

Teams
The commissioner determines the number of teams. They have two options:
1) One single team of all U10 players or 2) Two teams broken down by age. One true U9 and one true U10 team. These two teams will run independent form each other and be subjected to the same standards and rules. Game roster limit is 15 players. All players should receive 50% playing time.

Fee
There is no additional fee to participate in the above program

Tournament: (optional)
The commissioner can authorize teams to participate in one tournament per season (Fall & Spring). Coaches will request, in writing, 30 days prior to event or within the tournaments guidelines. The Spring tournament MUST be the Joe Conte recreational Tournament. Roster size will be determined by tournament rules. Players must be in good standing with the club, league & developmental team. In addition, player must have rostered to a minimum of 3 Developmental games during the current season. All fees related to the registration of the tournament are to be paid evenly by the selected/ rostered players. This is an optional program for the players.
